Staff Spotlight: Melany

Imagine spending your days helping your friends learn new skills to help them be independent and live on their own.

That’s exactly what Melany does every day! Melany oversees the care for tenants who receive community living support (CLS) services at Hampton House— a residential home designed for individuals that are able to live more independently than residents in the adult foster care program at David’s House.

Melany has worked at David’s House for 14 years. She and her husband, Shane, started at David’s House as the house parents of House 1 in 2003. It was a pleasure for them to raise their family in a group home environment where they could live and regularly engage with residents. As the ministry grew and they moved into leadership positions, they moved off the property yet continued to serve the ministry.

Melany enjoys many aspects of her job. Seeing clients grow and flourish brings so much joy to her. It’s exciting for her to partner with friends in life to become all that God wants us to be.

When Melany is not at work, she enjoys serving at Resurrection Life Church as an ensemble member, small group leader, choir director, and choir member. She also does different church dramas from time to time. She loves home improvement projects and thrift shopping for unusual finds.
