July Message from David’s House President, Casey Kuperus

Summertime is always a spectacular and special time here at David’s House. Summer camp, picnics under the tent, evening concerts, and time to hang out with friends and family make this a favorite time of year for residents and staff alike.

This summer has been extra special for those who call House 2 their home. For the past two months, they have had no kitchen in their home! In early May, Dan Vos Construction began the task of renovating the entire kitchen and dining area of this home. We are blessed with many donors and contractors who came together to make this a reality. Soon, we will be sharing the transformation pictures as well as more information on the contractors who made this happen for us.

So, how did 12 residents and staff get through the past two months with no kitchen? As you can imagine, it is no small task to prepare and serve three meals per day, much less when you have no working kitchen. The answer points to the beauty of living in a shared community. House 2 residents have shared many meals with their David’s House family in the other homes.

The community room has also been transformed at times to serve as both a temporary living room and kitchen on the days that it was too noisy due to construction. Family members have brought over multiple meals as well for both residents and staff.

We are all blessed to be a part of this community called David’s House. So much of what we do would not be possible without the gifts of time and finances from our many, many donors. Home renovations, picnics, and concerts are all made possible through your gifts. Summertime is a period where giving tends to be low, yet our expenses are often at their peak. Please consider a gift this summer!

Thank you!
