Celebrating Sarah

After seven years in a variety of roles at David’s House, Sarah is stepping away from her position as LEAP Coordinator this December to focus on her growing family. In January, she and her husband will welcome their second child, and Sarah looks forward to spending more time at home with her daughter and newborn. While she is excited for this new chapter, she shares that she will deeply miss seeing her David’s House friends each day.

Sarah first learned about David’s House from a former co-worker who volunteered here, and the mission immediately resonated with her. Since she was twelve years old, Sarah has been involved with her church’s “Special Friends” group, where she still volunteers today. That early experience sparked her lifelong passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and ultimately led her to join David’s House in August 2018 as a Direct Support Professional in one of the homes. Over the years, she also served as a Shift Supervisor in several homes before moving into her favorite role as LEAP Coordinator in 2022.

As LEAP Coordinator, Sarah enjoyed planning daily activities and community outings that help residents grow in independence, build confidence, and have fun. Whether it was crafts, Bible study, exercise, or learning sessions, her goal was to make sure every activity met the diverse needs and interests of residents. Along the way, she learned sign language alongside participants, built deep relationships with residents and families, and developed a new level of patience and understanding.

Reflecting on her time here, Sarah says what makes David’s House special is its strong sense of family where everyone cares deeply for one another and truly has each other’s backs. Her compassion, creativity, and dedication have left a lasting imprint on both the LEAP program and the lives of those she has served. We are so thankful for Sarah’s years of service and the joy she brought to our community. She is deeply loved by residents, families, and staff and will be greatly missed.
