David’s House Ministries began with a family searching for a loving, Christian home for their son. Founder’s Jay and Lois had been unsuccessful in finding a care facility that they believed could provide the care they wanted for their son. With the urging of a friend, they began the journey of creating David’s House Ministries. This led them to Dan Vos, owner of Dan Vos Construction, who graciously offered to donate the property where David’s House now stands.
After several major gifts, donations, and gifts-in-kind, House 1 was built and welcomed its first resident on June 29, 1987. Over the next 2 weeks, 9 more residents moved in – six of these original ten guys still live at David’s House!
David’s House started with 2 staff members, House 1 ‘house parents’ that lived and worked in House 1. Now, David’s House is home to 43 residents and 80+ staff members!
A lot has changed at David’s House over the last 32 years, but one thing that has remained the same over the years is the loving, Christian environment that both residents and staff provide. Although David’s House continues to grow in size, it still has the same family-like feel that was present on the very first day it opened.
Thank you to all the family, friends, and community members that have supported David’s House along the way. We feel truly blessed to be celebrating 32 years and are looking forward to celebrating many more!
