Meet Chris – Staff Spotlight

November 2022, Chris

Meet Ivanrest Home Supervisor Chris Isenga! She has worked for the Grandville Friendship Men’s Home (now known as Ivanrest Home) for 22 years. In April 2022, Ivanrest became a part of David’s House Ministries. Unlike many of the staff at DHMIN, Chris is a live-in staff.

She has been acquainted with David’s House Ministries for many years.

“We were part of an activities organization and attended many of the same functions as DHMIN well before the merge,” Chris said.

Chris is a caregiver at heart and, throughout her career, has always chosen to work with those with disabilities.

“I enjoy making people feel happy and comfortable; I also like the variety of tasks that make up my job,” Chris said.

Taking the guys on day trips is one of her favorite parts about working at David’s House Ministries. They go to the movies, local concerts, orchards, and even took a trip to Frankenmuth last holiday season. Helping residents live fulfilled lives is very important to her.

“The residents need someone to be patient with them as many tasks are difficult and challenging in day-to-day life. It is very rewarding to see a smile on someone’s face and know they are content,” Chris said.

Chris enjoys spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren outside of work. She also loves sewing.

“I started sewing in the seventh grade, about 55 years ago, and have acquired several sewing machines. I also camp on the weekends during the summer,” Chris said.

One of her favorite bible verses is Luke 6:31, “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them.”
