Who we are is defined by what we do and who we serve. Who we are is not only important to our Board of Directors and staff but also to each resident and their family. Extending God’s love and care to individuals with special needs is what our ministry exists to do.
God has given us the privilege of being His hands and feet to each individual we serve. Our desire is to bring hope to families who are looking for a continuum of care for their loved one with special needs.
From the beginning, David’s House Ministries has partnered with families, churches, businesses and foundations in a sincere attempt to meet the ever-changing needs of our residents. For over 30 years, as many of our residents’ needs have changed, we have adjusted our current programs, staffing patterns and added adaptive equipment to better meet these needs. Our intent is to adjust our program to the individual when possible and give them an opportunity to move into one of our other homes when the time is right. We call this a limited continuum of care. We cannot promise that we will always be able to meet an individual residents changing needs. But it is our intent, and usually the resident and parent/guardians desire, that David’s House would be their home for the rest of their lives.
We plan to continue providing new opportunities for a fulfilling living experience for individuals with special needs as God provides guidance, opportunity, and resources. Most recently, we have added LEAP to our programming.
LEAP stands for Life Enriching Activities and Programs. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we get together to learn new things and work on our health and well-being. These activities include exercising, working on cooking skills, learning Spanish, and giving back to the community by making cut and tie blankets, decorating bags for Kids’ Food Basket, stamping coffee sleeves for Roots Brew Shop, volunteering at Beer City Dog Biscuits, and more. Our vision for LEAP is to expand our community outreach, increase the number of volunteers coming to David’s House, expand our programming, and be able to cook lunch together each day in our community room. We believe the residents who live at David’s House have gifts that should be shared with the community and that life-long learning improves quality of life. We also think it’s important to have fun!!
In order to continue providing quality, total-person care for our residents, we need your help! There are many different ways to support David’s House financially from donating online to becoming a monthly donor or planned giving.
